Little Chick Egg Carton Craft

February 29, 2016 by Khrista

This cute little chick egg carton craft is the perfect springtime activity for kids.  These chicks are really easy to make and end up looking super cute!  If you have little ones at home, this craft definitely requires some grownup hands, but it’s a ton of fun and very easy to create.

We’ve had quite a bit of rain around here lately, so finding indoor activities have been high on our list.  And at the #1 spot…crafts!  We actually keep a huge box of recycled materials in the garage for that very reason.  We happened to have a few empty egg cartons that were just screaming to be turned into something adorable.  Since Easter is right around the corner, we decided on transforming those egg cartons into some adorable little chicks.

All you need is:
– an empty egg carton
– acrylic paint
– googly eyes
– construction paper
-pipe cleaners
– glue*

*I used Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue { ❤ }, but depending on the material of your egg cartons and how evenly you make your cuts, you may need to use a glue gun.

Start by cutting out the cups of the egg carton.  Be sure to trim the edges as flat and uniform as possible.  Next, it’s time to glue the two cups together.  Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue worked great for us but you may find that you need to use a glue gun depending on how evenly you were able to cut the edge of the cups.  Once you have the glue applied, hold the two cups together between your thumb and index finger, giving the glue a few seconds to set.
