Halloween Marshmallow Popcorn Treats

September 26, 2015 by Khrista

These Halloween Marshmallow Popcorn Treats are so delicious and easy to make!  Perfect for a Halloween party or just a special treat.  This recipe is incredibly adaptable and only limited to your imagination.

Halloween Marshmallow Popcorn TreatsThe ingredients for this recipe are so simple.  All you need is popcorn, butter, marshmallows, a little vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and whatever sprinkles or Halloween type candy you’d like to add.  Simple enough, right?

Halloween Marshmallow Popcorn Treat ingredients

I typically use microwave popcorn for recipes like this but decided to use some pre-popped bagged popcorn instead to see how it would work out.

My family is ADDICTED to the Simply Nature Organic Lightly Salted Popcorn in a bag.  We buy it at Aldi.  I  mean addicted!

If you haven’t tried it – you must get in your car as soon as you are finished reading about this great recipe and go to buy some.  Seriously.  Thankfully it’s under $2 a bag so it this addiction won’t break the bank!  I always have about 3 extra bags in my pantry so that is what I use for the recipe.

Now back to business.  This recipe is very similar to the rice crispy cereal treat recipe but made with popcorn instead of the cereal.

Start by melting the butter in a stock pot over medium heat.  Once melted, slowly add in the vanilla followed by the marshmallows.  Stir until the marshmallows are completely melted and a bit puffy, about 5 minutes.

Add in half of your popcorn and stir to coat the yummy gooey goodness over the popcorn.  Next, add half of the sprinkles and 3/4 of the candy corn {the balance of these add-ins will be sprinkled on top on the treats once the popcorn mix has been pressed into the pan}.  Finish by adding in the balance of your popcorn and mix until the popcorn is completely coated.

Once everything is mixed to your liking, press the popcorn mixture into a greased 9″x13″ dish.  Sprinkle with remaining candies and sprinkles and let sit for about 30 minutes to allow the gooey goodness to set up a bit.

Once set, you are ready to cut into bars, squares or whatever shape you desire!  Hope you enjoy!
