Musical Manicures
I love this fun spin to musical chairs. You need one nail polish bottle per player. Each girls starts with a bottle of nail polish in from of them. When the music starts, the girls pass the polish in a circle. When the music stops, each girl will paint a nail with the color she is holding. Be sure to have an adult close by to help if necessary. The game is over when all ten nails are painted.

Make personalized pillowcases
Personalized pillowcases are the perfect craft for any sleepover. All you need is a pillow case {white is best}, white paper and some fabric paint. The girls will paint on the paper instead of directly on the pillowcase. The paper acts like a transfer when the paint dries. Now the girls can easily decorate all over the pillowcase. Get the detailed directions here.

Throw around a talk and toss ball
What a fun way to get the fun started. So what is “Talk and Toss Ball” you may ask? Basically it is a ball that has fun questions written all over it. The girls will sit in a circle and pass around the ball. When they catch it, they must answer the question that is written just below their right thumb. You can also include fun silly tasks the kids have to complete in addition to the questions. Here is a great list of questions I found over at Things We’ve Handed Down.

Make you own lip gloss
I love so much about this activity. I love the idea of making a lip gloss and I LOVE that it only requires 3 simple ingredients: coconut oil, sugar and koolaid! Be sure to put down a plastic table cloth for this activity…koolaid can stain. Especially little fingers – so this be sure an adult is close by to help. Put the gloss in little makeup containers found on Amazon or check your local craft store.

Set up a mini spa
A slumber party with friends is the perfect place for a little spa time. You can find everything you need at the Dollar Store – nail polish, polish remover, slippers or flip-flops, cottons balls…even cute little containers to display everything. Slice up some cucumbers and make a face mask for kids {recipe here} – Whatever you can dream up the girls will love!

Toilet paper and tin foil project runway
All you need for this fashion fun game is toilet paper and tin foil. Divide the girls up into groups and give each one a roll of toilet paper and a box of tin foil. Be sure each group has enough room to work. You can have one girl be the model and the others clothing designers OR each girl in the group can design their own outfit. Then set up a sheet for a backdrop and have a fun photo shoot or even have a contest to see who has the best (or craziest) outfit.

Blind makeovers
This is a hilarious activity and perfect for a sleepover. Girls will pair off and one girls of the two gets blindfolded. Using basic makeup products such as lipstick, eye shadow, blush, etc – the blindfolded girl must attempt to give their partner a makeover without being able to see. I would suggest keeping mascara out of the makeup bags for safety purposes. After 10 minutes or so, call time and unmask the makeover. Next it’s time to switch places and play again. Have a camera handy and take before and after photos. You can even make it a contest and give out prizes for the craziest, best and worst makeovers.

Spin the nail polish bottle
This is a family friendly twist to another classic game. You’ll need to make a spinner for this one so here are the instructions for the board. Girls sit in a circle and take turns spinning the spinner to pick a polish color. Players paint one toe at a time. Game is over when all player’s 10 toes are painted.

Make Cootie Catchers a.k.a. Fortune Tellers
It doesn’t get any more classic than this paper game for girls. Paper fortune tellers {a.k.a cootie catchers} are a form of origami and are simple to make. All you need is a regular piece of paper and your imagination. Players can fill the eight flaps with funny fortunes or messages. Here is a easy to follow video on how to make a fortune teller. I also found these great fortune teller templates that can come in handy. Girls of all ages love this paper craft game!
Cupcake decorating bar
This is a great way to combine an activity and a nice sweet treat. Make a batch of vanilla and chocolate cupcakes and then set out different icing and topping options for the girls to use to decorate their own cupcake. Set toppings out in small bowls or even use a cupcake pan to tie the whole theme together. The is definitely a sweet deal.

Messy Twister
This is a great game for girls. You’ll need a Twister game, a few cans of shaving cream from the dollar store and some food coloring. Food color has the potential to stain so be sure the kiddos are wearing old clothes. Start by dividing the shaving cream into 4 large bowls and add the food coloring – red, yellow, green and blue. Once all the colors are mixed, spoon them on the Twister board and your ready to play! Things will get messy so this is best played outside with a hose close by.

Family friendly Truth or dare
True or Dare is another classic game and I love the idea of a family friendly version. Label two jars or containers: one ‘truth’ and the other ‘dare’. Then print and cut out your questions and put them in the appropriate labeled container. Then let the fun begin.

Make gumball necklaces
This fun activity couldn’t be easier. All you need is some ribbon and some gumballs. Since you need to put holes in the gumballs be sure to have some adults on hand to help with this part. Or better yet put the holes in the gumballs before the sleepover even begins. You can use a kitchen skewer or even a wide-eye blunt needle used for knitting. Drill each hole separately – this will make sure the gumball doesn’t crack. To make the necklace, start by measuring the length of ribbon the girls want for their necklace. Longer is better because you can always trim at the end. Next, thread the ribbon through the holes of the gumballs tying a knot of both ends to secure the gumball in place. The photo shows this nicely. It helps to use a blunt-eye needle or a bit of floral wire to push the ribbon through the hole in the gumball. Have a girls thread on as many gumballs as they like – 6 to 8 looks great. Alternate colors or stick with one – whatever the girls like best. To finish, loop the ribbon around your neck and tie it in a bow or a knot. That’s it! See more photo examples.
